even when the people in it do."

📸 What to Wear: Styling Your Session
Choosing outfits shouldn't be the hardest part of your photo shoot! Here are my top tips for a timeless, cohesive look that lets your family’s personality shine.
1. Coordinate, Don’t Match
Gone are the days of everyone wearing identical white t-shirts and jeans. Instead, pick a color palette (like earth tones, soft pastels, or jewel tones) and have everyone wear different shades and textures within that family.
2. Start with One "Lead" Outfit
It’s often easiest to pick one person’s outfit first—usually Mom’s dress or a patterned shirt for a child—and then pull colors from that piece to dress the rest of the family.
3. Textures Over Trends
Flowy fabrics, chunky knits, lace, and linen add depth and movement to your photos. Avoid large logos, neon colors, or tiny "pinstripe" patterns, which can sometimes look distorted (moiré effect) on digital sensors.
4. Comfort is Key
If your toddler feels itchy in their sweater or you’re constantly tugging at a hemline, it will show in your expressions! Choose clothes that allow you to sit, jump, and snuggle comfortably.
5. Don’t Forget the Feet
Shoes matter! Aim for neutral leather boots, clean sneakers, or even bare feet for newborn sessions. Avoid bright white athletic socks or scuffed-up gym shoes unless they are part of your "vibe."
🧸 The "Smooth Sailing" Session Checklist
A little preparation goes a long way in making sure your session is relaxed and fun. Here is how to prep for the big day:
☀️ Before You Arrive
* The Nap Factor: For toddlers and babies, try to schedule the "big nap" to end about 30–60 minutes before our session. A well-rested child is a happy model!
* Full Tummies: Feed the kids right before you leave. A "hangry" toddler is a tough critic.
* Outfit Check: Iron or steam outfits the night before. Double-check for missing buttons or stray threads so you aren't rushing in the morning.
🎒 What to Pack
* Mess-Free Snacks: Think puffs, goldfishes, or grapes. Avoid chocolate, colorful juice, or anything that might stain teeth or clothes.
* The "Emergency" Toy: Bring their favorite stuffed animal or a noise-maker to help me grab their attention (and a few smiles).
* Comfort Items: If your baby uses a pacifier, bring a clear or neutral-colored one if possible.
* Touch-up Kit: A hairbrush, some translucent powder, and extra diapers/wipes.
✨ During the Session
* Relax and Breathe: Kids pick up on parental stress. If they start acting up, don't worry—I've seen it all! Just keep smiling and interacting with them; sometimes the "chaotic" moments make the best photos.
* Follow My Lead: I might ask you to look at each other rather than the camera. Trust the process! The "in-between" moments are where the magic happens.
